Aug 2026 · Ink An Epic Pte. Ltd.

Novvel is a product of Ink An Epic Pte. Ltd. (UEN: 202512283C), Singapore (“Novvel”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use the Free, Lite, and Pro tiers of novvel.co and related services (the “Service”). Novvel’s Managed/Concierge production service and Publisher partnership engagements are governed by a separate written agreement, which includes its own data-handling terms. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

01Who We Are

Ink An Epic Pte. Ltd. · Singapore · UEN: 202512283C · support@novvel.co. For data protection queries, including requests relating to the rights in Section 11, contact us at the same address.

02What We Collect

Data you give us directly:

– Name and email address when you sign in (including via Google Sign-In) or create an account;

– Manuscript content you upload or paste;

– Character images you upload for character generation;

– Story metadata — title, genre, character names, corrections;

– Communications you send to support@novvel.co.

Data generated automatically:

– Usage data — pages visited, features used, time on page;

– Device data — IP address, browser type, operating system;

– Share and engagement data — page views, reader comments, panel engagement on shared reader-link pages and Reader Universe.

Data from third parties:

– If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google;

– Payment confirmation and fraud signals from our payment processor — we do not store full card details.

03How We Use Your Data, and Our Legal Basis for Doing So

Where GDPR applies to you (see Section 10), we rely on one of the following legal bases for each use of your data:

– Contract — processing necessary to provide the Service you’ve signed up for (generating your graphic novel, processing payment, account administration);

– Consent — processing you’ve actively opted into or not opted out of (the newsletter, aggregated-learnings use, Reader Universe display on Lite, non-essential cookies);

– Legitimate interests — processing that helps us run and improve the Service in ways you’d reasonably expect (fraud prevention, core analytics, security), balanced against your rights;

– Legal obligation — processing required by law (tax and payment records).

Specifically, we use your data to:

– Generate your graphic novel — your manuscript is processed by AI tools to create panels, narration, dialogue, covers, and layouts (Contract);

– Provide optional editorial feedback — on Pro, your manuscript or graphic novel is separately processed to provide Story Intelligence or The Reader’s Report (Contract, where you’ve selected these features);

– Display your completed graphic novel in Reader Universe — on Lite, by default unless you opt out; on Pro, only if you opt in (Consent — see Section 6);

– Send transactional emails — including notifying you when your free preview, cover, or a chapter is ready, plus payment receipts and account notifications (Contract);

– Send re-engagement emails — if you started the process but didn’t complete an order (Legitimate interests / Consent, depending on your region);

– Send our newsletter — only if you opted in via inkanepic.com or novvel.co (Consent);

– Improve our own systems — anonymised, aggregated data, which may include anonymised manuscript content with identifying information removed, unless you’ve opted out (see Section 5) (Consent, opt-out);

– Display sample work in our portfolio — sample panels from your completed graphic novel may appear in our marketing materials unless you opt out by writing to support@novvel.co (Legitimate interests);

– Prevent fraud and keep the Service secure (Legitimate interests).

We do not sell your personal data.

04Your Manuscript

Your manuscript is processed to generate your graphic novel and, on Pro, to provide the editorial feedback features described in Section 3. It is shared with our AI processing providers only for these purposes (see Section 7), and is not shared with third parties for any other reason. It is stored for the duration of your account plus 30 days after closure. You may request deletion at any time by writing to support@novvel.co.

05Aggregated Learnings

By default, Novvel may use anonymised, aggregated data — which may include anonymised manuscript content with identifying information removed — to improve our own internal systems, tools, and processes. This is separate from, and unrelated to, the third-party AI providers described in Section 7, none of which train on your content. You can opt out of this internal aggregated-learnings use at any time by emailing support@novvel.co; opting out stops future use but does not retroactively remove your contribution from aggregates already created.

06Reader Universe

Reader Universe is Novvel’s public reading library, where completed graphic novels may be displayed for other users to read.

On Lite, your completed graphic novel — including your story title and any author name or credit you’ve provided — is included in Reader Universe by default. You may opt out at any time by writing to support@novvel.co, either before publication or afterward. Opting out after your book has already appeared in Reader Universe removes it from future display but does not undo any reading, comments, or engagement that already occurred while it was listed.

On Pro, your completed graphic novel is not included in Reader Universe unless you actively opt in.

Reader Universe display does not affect who owns your story — see the Terms of Service for ownership terms. Comments left by other readers on your Reader Universe listing are handled the same way as comments on any shared reader-link page (Section 2).

07Third-Party AI Providers

We work with a small number of third-party AI providers to generate your graphic novel and to power the optional editorial feedback features on Pro. We select these providers specifically because they do not use your submitted content to train or improve their own models by default. Your manuscript and related content is processed by these providers solely for these purposes; their own terms and privacy practices govern how they handle data on their own systems, though our selection criteria are designed to keep that processing consistent with the commitment above.

These providers may process data outside Singapore, including in the United States. Where this involves a transfer of personal data protected under GDPR, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent recognised transfer mechanism with each provider (see Section 10).

08Other Third Parties

We share data with service providers who help us operate the Service — including payment processors, cloud hosting providers, email delivery services, and analytics tools. We share only the minimum data each provider needs. We do not sell data to any third party.

We may disclose data to comply with applicable law, court orders, or government authority. If Novvel is acquired or merges with another company, your data may transfer as part of that transaction.

09Cookies

We use essential cookies to operate the Service. For analytics and any non-essential cookies, we ask for your consent via a cookie banner before they are set — you can accept, reject, or manage preferences by category. You can change your choice at any time via the cookie settings link in the site footer.

10International Data Transfers

Novvel is based in Singapore, and our service providers — including the AI processing providers described in Section 7 — may process data in other countries, including the United States. Where you are located in the EU or UK and this involves a transfer of your personal data outside the EEA or UK, we put in place appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or an equivalent recognised mechanism, before the transfer occurs. You can request further information about these safeguards by writing to support@novvel.co.

11Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, to receive a copy of your data in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time where processing is consent-based — including opting out of Reader Universe (Section 6) or of anonymised data use for internal improvement (Section 5). We will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the EU or UK, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are in Singapore, you may contact the Personal Data Protection Commission at pdpc.gov.sg.

12Security

We use encryption in transit and at rest and access controls to protect your data. In the event of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

13Data Retention

Account data and manuscript content are held for the duration of your account plus 30 days. Payment records are held for 7 years as required by law. Analytics data is held for 24 months. Panel One contest data is held per Section 14. When retention periods expire, data is deleted or anonymised.

14The Panel One Contest — Special Terms for Minors

The Panel One contest is run jointly by Novvel and Bookosmia and is open to students aged 13 and above. There is no pathway for entrants under 13 — the age of 13 is a hard cutoff, with no exceptions. Because entrants may be minors, the following applies to contest submissions and supersedes the general terms in this policy where they conflict.

Consent. A participant aged 13–17 may submit an entry where a parent or legal guardian has read the Terms & Conditions and consents to their participation, confirmed via the checkbox on the submission form. Novvel relies on this confirmation but does not independently verify it.

Data we collect from contestants. From the student: first name, last name, email address, age, country, school name, school website (optional), story title, genre, synopsis, and full story text. From the parent or guardian: full name and relationship to the student.

How we use it. To assess entries and select the Top 50 and Top 5; to contact the student about their entry and results; to announce winners and finalists publicly by name and story title; to provide Top 50 students access to the Novvel Studio; and for Top 5 students, to work with our editorial team and prepare the graphic novel for publication on Amazon by Bookosmia.

Public display. Top 50 and Top 5 entries and completed graphic novel panels may be displayed publicly on novvel.co, our social media channels, and in press and marketing materials relating to the contest. Winners and finalists will be named publicly. Top 5 graphic novels will be published on Amazon with the student’s name on the cover, published by Bookosmia.

What we do not do with contest submissions. Student data is not added to our general marketing list. We do not share contestant data with any third party other than Bookosmia for the purpose of publication, and our hosting and email service providers for the purpose of running the contest.

Retention. Contest entry data is held for 36 months after the contest closes, then deleted. Published graphic novels remain on Amazon subject to Bookosmia’s publishing terms.

Withdrawal. A parent or guardian may withdraw a contestant’s entry and request deletion of data at any time before results are announced by writing to support@novvel.co.

15Children — General Service

The general Novvel Service (outside of Panel One) is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors through the main Service. If you believe a minor has created a paid account, contact support@novvel.co.

16Changes

We will notify you of material changes by email or by notice on the Service. Continued use after notification constitutes acceptance.
